Why is my internet down?

It is either your home or the provider. Restart your modem and router, check that other devices are also offline, and try mobile data. If everything is offline, open your provider on this page: many reports at the same time, or your city on the map, mean the outage is on their side.

How do I check for an internet outage in my area?

Open your provider's page and look at the user reports and the cities people report from. A city appears once at least 3 people reported from it in the last 24 hours. You can also report your own problem there.

How does this site know a provider is down?

We check each provider's website every minute, and we count reports from people. A provider that blocks our checks is marked as such, and then only reports can show a problem.

Is there an internet outage map?

Each provider's page has a map of the cities where people reported problems in the last 24 hours. The homepage shows the busiest places across every service.
